This is the famous Castelli Free Bibshort adapted for pro team use. Nothing is spared in terms of comfort and performance. The AC pad features flatlock stitching, the Giro++ patented gripper, and the Free bib that keeps your chest free and cool.

Speedway, Indiana – Zipp Speed Weaponry, makers of the world’s fastest wheels and components, have strengthened their already star-studded roster of sponsored triathletes with new signings and key contract extensions.

Joining the Zipp family will be husband-and-wife teams Greg and Laura Bennett, and Michael and Amanda Lovato, plus 2012 Olympic hopeful Jenna Shoemaker. Virginia Berasategui, Terenzo Bozzone, Michellie Jones, Sarah Haskins, Rasmus Henning, and Matty Reed have all extended their agreements with Zipp.

Zipp Sponsorship & Events Coordinator Greg Kopecky commented, “Greg, Laura, Michael, Amanda, and Jenna bring a lot of experience and energy to the table, and we’re looking forward to working with them and all the racers that are continuing with us. So far this year, that group of athletes has produced five Ironman and three Ironman 70.3 wins, courtesy of Mirinda Carfrae (Ironman 70.3 Oceanside), Patrick Vernay (Ironman Australia), Belinda Grainger (Ironman Malaysia and Ironman 70.3 China), Jo Lawn (Ironman New Zealand), Luke McKenzie (Ironman China), Marino Vanhoenacker (Ironman Malaysia), and Amanda Lovato (Ironman 70.3 Pucon).

New athletes

Laura Bennett (USA) has been a consistent presence on the ITU World Cup circuit for over 10 years. She is a former winner of the Hy-Vee Triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa, and placed fourth in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Greg Bennett (Australia) is best known for taking home the biggest single paycheck in triathlon history by sweeping all 5 races of the Life Time Fitness series in 2007. In 2009, he finished second overall in the Race to the Toyota Cup series and won the New York City event. In addition to riding Zipp wheels, the Bennetts will use the company’s Tangente aero tires along with Zipp handlebars, bottle cages, and brake pads.

Michael Lovato (USA) has finished 9th at the Ironman World Championships in Kona on three occasions (2003, 2007, and 2008) and has posted wins at Ironman Coeur d’Alene and Ironman Arizona. His 2009 season included a victory at Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island. Amanda Lovato (USA) is a versatile athlete and competes in everything from 5k runs to Ironman-distance triathlons. She got off to a fast start in 2010 by winning the Ironman 70.3 event in Pucon, Chile, in January. She and Michael will ride Zipp wheels for the 2010 season. Michael will also use Zipp’s VukaAero integrated aerobar, VumaChrono crankset, and Tangente tires.

Jenna Shoemaker (USA) had an excellent 2009 season at the Pan-Am level and will step up to a worldwide ITU schedule in 2010. An Olympic hopeful and part of USA Triathlon’s Project 2012 development program, Jenna will ride Zipp 303s in ITU races and the Sub-9 disc for non-drafting events. She will also use SRAM components in 2010.

Extending athletes

Long-course star and 2009 Wildflower champion, Virginia Berasategui (Spain) will again compete on Zipp wheels and Tangente tires, and SRAM components. She will add the VukaAero to her setup for 2010.

A rising star of triathlon’s next generation, Terenzo Bozzone (New Zealand) will continue with Zipp wheels and SRAM components in 2010 while adding dimpled Tangente aero tires.

One of triathlon’s most storied athletes, Michellie Jones (Australia) recently extended her long-running relationship with Zipp through 2010. She races on the 404 front wheel with a 1080 rear or Sub-9 in disc-legal events and trains on 303 clinchers. Michellie also rides Zipp’s 21mm Tangente tires and SRAM components.

Defending Race to the Toyota Cup series champion Sarah Haskins (USA) will be riding Zipp wheels and SRAM components through the 2012 Olympics in London.

One of the world’s top short-course triathletes, Rasmus Henning (Denmark) placed fifth in his Kona debut in 2009 while competing with a broken hand. He’ll continue on Zipp wheels and SRAM components through 2011.

2009 Race to the Toyota Cup series winner Matty Reed (USA) will continue on Zipp wheels with Tangente tires and VumaChrono cranks through the 2012 Olympics.

Notable returning athletes

Continuing with Zipp under existing contracts are two-time Ironman Hawaii champion Normann Stadler (Germany) and the Commerzbank Triathlon Team, Beijing Olympic champions Jan Frodeno (Germany) and Emma Snowsill (Australia), and 2007 Ironman World Champion Chris “Macca” McCormack (Australia). Macca is on form early in the season, breaking is own course record by over a minute at Lavaman in Kona. Expect Macca to be one of the favorites heading in to next month’s Ironman 70.3 New Orleans.

Natatorium 5K Selected as RRCA State Championship

Celebrating its 7th year, The Natatorium 5K Run has been selected by the Road Runners Club of America as the State Championship for the 5K distance for 2010. According to race director, Julie O’Connell, “We are very pleased to be selected as the State 5K Championship and look forward to meeting the high standards of hosting a RRCA Championship race”

In conjunction with the North Coast Road Runners Club (NCRRC), the Natatorium 5K run offers a challenging certified 5K course and also an event that will draw over 700 entrants for the coming year.

The race participants will also be treated to sports and fitness expo and a post race awards ceremony with food and beverages provide by many local vendors,

Day of race registration and packet pickup will be available starting at 7:15 am.

Community Sports & Lifestyle Exhibitors Wanted

(Twinsburg, OH) The City of Twinsburg Parks & Recreation Department will be hosting a sprint duathlon on Sunday, June 6th, 2010. In conjunction with the race there will be a Community Sports & Lifestyle Expo at the Twinsburg Fitness Center on Saturday, June 5, from 1:00 - 5:00 pm.

The duathlon will be a USA Triathlon sanctioned event that will consist of a 2 mile run-10 mile bike - 2mile run, all within the Twinsburg City limits.

In conjunction with the duathlon on Sunday, there will be a Community Sports & Fitness Expo along with athlete packet pickup on Saturday, June 5, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The race and the expo will be held at the Twinsburg Fitness Center located at 10084 Ravenna Rd., Twinsburg, Ohio 44087. Athlete registration for the duathlon is available at www.imathlete.com.

SheROX Miami online registration is now open!

Come be a part of the 2010 SheROX Miami Triathlon. The race will take place on Sunday, April 25 at 7 AM at the City of Miami's Marine Stadium, 3501 Rickenbacker Street, Miami, FL 33149, and includes a .8K (.5 mile) swim, 20K (12.4 mile) bike, 5K (3.1 mile) run. THE SHEROX MENTOR PROGRAM
If you've never done a triathlon, but have thought about it, this is the race for you. We'll provide you with a mentor who will provide support and information to make your first experience a safe, fun and memorable one! Even if you've done other triathlons, our helpful, experienced mentors will answer your questions and provide guidance to help you enjoy your race day. This is not a coaching or training program, but an interactive way for you to get answers to your questions and concerns. Your mentor will be available to answer your questions via e-mail and will proactively send you regular tips and suggestions to address your training and racing needs. You'll receive a periodic e-newsletter packed with information and invitations to group workouts, clinics, informational meetings and/or social get-togethers. Your mentor is there to listen to you and to help you feel comfortable about training and the event.

TRAINING PLANS
Whether your goal is to improve your performance, win your age group or simply to finish, we've got a training plan for you. You can choose a beginner, intermediate or advanced plan, depending upon your objectives, fitness level and experience. More information will be available soon.

RELAY TEAMS
If you're not ready to do the whole race by yourself, participate as part of a relay team! Recruit one or two friends, co-workers or family members to participate in those parts of the race that you'd rather not do. Relay teams consist of two or three members. Form mother/daughter teams, teams with members of your book club, your old college roommates or other women you work with, or come up with your own team theme!

If you want to complete the event with a friend or family member who may not be in your age group, you can! If you want to do the race with your mom, daughter, older or younger friend, sign up for the Buddy Wave. Buddy Wave participants are not eligible for age-group awards.

No one has studied all aspects of carbon fiber rims more closely than the engineers of Zipp Speed Weaponry who design and test the world’s fastest wheels and components.

In response to the intense heat and residue buildup caused by braking on carbon, Zipp has developed the Tangente High Performance Cork Brake Pad that outperforms all other carbon-specific pads in all conditions. CNC machined from a unique composite material, the Tangente pad combines the stopping performance and durability of a synthetic polymer with the heat resistance and smooth feel of cork.

The Tangente operates at a lower temperature than any rubber-based pad.

Reduces risk of rolled tubular tires and carbon clincher rim damage
Leaves no melted pad residue that can cause brake pulsation
Reduces pulsation from rims with previous residue buildup
Can extend wheelset life up to four times compared to rubber-based pads

The Tangente offers better overall stopping performance than any other carbon-specific pad.

Composite material offers greater stopping power than traditional cork.
Less “grabby” than rubber for improved braking modulation.
Unique “arrowhead” shape improves wet-weather performance relative to all other cork pads and most rubber pads.

The Tangente is the most durable carbon-specific pad available.

Cork-polymer composite material wears longer than traditional cork.
Composite material wears similarly to low-temperature rubber but Tangente pad is .5mm thicker than most carbon-specific rubber pads.

Revolution3 Triathlon Series Announces Inaugural Full Distance Race To Be Held at Cedar Point Amusement Park, Sandusky, OH

Revolution3 officially announces that Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH will serve as the host venue for its newest event, a full distance triathlon in September, 2010. Taking place on September 12, 2010, the event will consist of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a 26.2-mile run. The inaugural full distance Rev3 will take place within the Cedar Point Park and will include access to the park for family members and friends. In addition, a professional prize purse of $150,000 will be offered as well as prizes for top age group finishers. The swim will be held on the beautiful Lake Erie, with athletes entering the water inside the park from the beach of Hotel Breakers, which serves as the host hotel for the Rev3 event and is located within 100 yards from the swim start. Following the swim, the scenic bike course will take athletes on a 112 mile ride through the country side of Erie County. The run will consist of a two loop course through downtown Sandusky on what is considered to be a generally flat run. The finish line will be positioned at Cedar Point and is sure to be one of the most spectacular finish line experiences around!

ZIPP’S NEW 303 FEATURES ALL-AROUND IMPROVEMENTS

Speedway, Indiana (April 17, 2009) – Upgrading what might already be the most versatile wheel in its lineup, Zipp Speed Weaponry has released a completely redesigned version of the venerable 303 tubular wheelset. With changes to the rim shape that improve nearly every aspect of performance, the new 303 will be used by athletes ranging from Tour de France sprinters to Olympic triathlon gold medalist Emma Snowsill.

Incorporating the knowledge gained from the recent improvements to Zipp’s workhorse 404 and 808 wheelsets, the 303’s radical new shape yields 12 seconds of aerodynamic savings over 40km versus its predecessor yet maintains stability in crosswinds, even for smaller riders like Snowsill and Vanessa Fernandes. An excellent choice for hillier courses, the 303 wheelset tips the scales at just 1182 grams. Although just 101 grams heavier than the 202, Zipp’s lightest wheelset, the 303 is significantly more aerodynamic than any dedicated climbing wheelset available.

At the same time, the new 303 performs better than ever when faced with rough roads and rugged weather. Without adding a gram, Zipp has widened the 303’s rim from

22.3mm to 27.5mm with a slight rim depth increase from 44mm to 45mm. These changes substantially improve the already superb impact resistance of Zipp’s Carbon

Bridge™ technology while offering a more comfortable, forgiving radial stiffness that will benefit triathletes on both the bike and the run. At the same time, the wider, deeper rim increases the 303’s lateral stiffness for cornering and accelerations. Another benefit is that wider tires, like the new 23mm version of Zipp’s dimpled Tangente tire, have a minimal impact on the wheel’s aerodynamics.

Additionally, the 303’s tire bed has been redesigned to protect against tire damage and for more precise mounting of tubular tires. In poor conditions, riders will appreciate the improved brake modulation of the new 303’s angled brake track. Like all Zipp carbon rims, the 303 is marked by Zipp’s unmistakable ABLC™ dimples. The 303 includes Zipp’s new 88 front and 188 rear hubs that feature oversize 17mm axles, higher flanges, and adjustable bearing preload. Steel skewers, 18 front and 24
